YVUF SETS GOAL FOR 2018 AT $200,000

by admin on June 8, 2017

The Yadkin Valley United Fund has made its agency partner allocations for 2018 . David Steelman, Executive Director said the total amount of grants will be the largest ever. The 2018 campaign goal will be $200,000, also the largest ever according to Steelman. Being that we are a United Fund and not a United Way, 99% of all our funds stay in the Yadkin Valley per Steelman.

The YVUF will be providing funds for 25 local non-profit agencies and three scholarships, one each at East Wilkes, Elkin, and Starmount High Schools. The new board headed up by President Susan Stewart has added one new partner agency to their grants for 2018, Elkin’s “Watershed NOW”. All of the information about each non-profit and its 18 board members may be found on the YVUF website.

The 2018 campaign will kick off with the “Dine Out for the Fund” scheduled for August 17-24 by local restaurants. A new event this year will be the first “Wine Out for the Fund” scheduled for September 16 by the local wineries. All new donations or pledges received after June 1, 2017 count toward the 2018 campaign.

The YVUF serves the communities of Elkin, Jonesville, Mountain Park, Ronda, State Road, Thurmond, and Traphill. Individuals or Businesses who want to donate or pledge may do so online, by mail, or payroll deduction where available. Those who work out of town and have payroll deduction may designate YVUF and those funds will come back to Yadkin Valley United Fund according to Steelman.

Steelman is available as a speaker for the YVUF and may be contacted at 336.469.2860 or Yadkinvalleyunitedfund@gmail.com. Website: Yadkinvalleyunitedfund.org
